Summary
Tends fabricating machines such as folding machines: CNC, Cidan, RAS, Hydraulic, and mechanical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
- Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
- Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy and quality of machine operation.
- Knowledge of automated machines and computer operated machine interfaces, CNC environments.
- Use gauging tooling punches, and dies. Able to use caliper, micrometer and tape measures.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
- Sets up machine, and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces.
- Keeps machine area clean.
- Directs and trains machine operator's assistant.
- 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Experience with folding machinery.
- Forklift license (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to read a micrometer and tape measure.
- Problem solving ability and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, and color vision.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics: regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually moderate.
