We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our Progressive Care Unit – Union Hospital to support the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of high‑quality, cost‑effective care for all patients and families associated with this patient care unit. The role shares 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operations with the Nurse Manager.
Hours: This position is predominantly a night‑shift role but may require sporadic day shifts, weekends, and holidays per department guidelines.

Responsibilities- Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high‑quality, efficient care to all patients utilizing the services of this area.
- Share 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operational activity.
- Directly supervise nursing and technical personnel, assessing proficiency, overseeing daily staffing and scheduling needs, evaluating staff performance, and counseling staff members when performance issues are identified.
- Participate in hiring, promotion, salary adjustment, and termination decisions; function as a highly transparent role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors that support staff development and the strategic goals of CCHS.
- Identify and develop strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
- Direct, mentor and support all levels of staff on the floor.
- Identify potential future leaders and engage in succession planning.
- Analyze administrative and operational functions; implement appropriate changes and system‑wide improvements.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing required;
Master’s required within 3 years. - RN license required; progressive care or intensive care department experience strongly preferred.
- 5 years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience.
- BLS required; ACLS preferred.
- Current certification required. If selected, the candidate must, within six months of the start date, successfully complete the professional certification.
Annual compensation range: $ – $. This pay range represents Christiana Care’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.
