Job SummaryAn ICU Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective nursing care to patients using the nursing process and complying with accepted standards of progressive care nursing and the policies and procedures of Union Hospital. Administers, monitors, and documents medications and treatments within the scope of practice and monitors and reports expected and adverse reactions. Provides care in collaboration with patient, family, and doctor.
Demonstrates professionalism when interacting with others and contributes to a multi‑disciplinary treatment plan.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Union Hospital is an eight bed Medical/Surgical ICU (eight private rooms and two negative pressure rooms). This unit has bedside telemetry monitoring and computerized stations at the bedside to provide real‑time documentation. A centralized wireless system is set up throughout the organization, permitting telemetry monitoring to occur throughout the facility. 24‑hour surveillance is provided by PCU medical professionals (monitor technicians, registered nurses, etc.)

- One year of nursing experience — REQUIRED
- 2+ years critical care experience — HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Diploma (ADN) — REQUIRED
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Maryland Licensed Registered Nurse (or compact state) — REQUIRED
- ACLS & BLS — REQUIRED
- Days (7a-7p)
- Nights (7p-7a)
