A PCU Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective nursing care to patients using the nursing process and complying with accepted standards of progressive care nursing and the policies and procedures of Union Hospital. The role includes administering, monitoring, and documenting medications and treatments within the scope of practice, monitoring and reporting expected and adverse reactions, providing care in collaboration with patient, family and doctor, and demonstrating professionalism when interacting with others while contributing to a multi‑disciplinary treatment plan.

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Union Hospital is a 24‑bed telemetry unit (10 private, 7 semi‑private, and 2 negative pressure rooms). The unit features bedside telemetry monitoring and computerized stations at the bedside for real‑time documentation. A centralized wireless system is set up throughout the organization, permitting telemetry monitoring to occur throughout the facility. 24‑hour surveillance is provided by PCU medical professionals (monitor technicians, registered nurses, etc.)

• One year of nursing experience - REQUIRED
• 2+ years critical care experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Diploma (ADN) - REQUIRED
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – HIGHLY PREFERRED

• Maryland Licensed Registered Nurse (or compact state) - REQUIRED
• ACLS & BLS - REQUIRED
