Licensed Practical Nurse; LPN Medical Specialty Unit; MSU - D

Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the Medical Specialty Unit (MSU), working 36 hours per week on Day/Evening Shift, with holidays and weekend shifts per department guidelines.

• Conduct ongoing patient observations to gather data relevant to patient needs.
• Record conditions and patient’s responses to treatment.
• Notify assigned or team RN of any changes in condition.
• Collaborate and assist RN in developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing plan of care; update the plan as appropriate.
• Perform nursing procedures for patient comfort and well-being, ensuring patient safety.
• Administer medications safely and effectively.
• Participate in patient/family education and discharge planning, documenting appropriately.
• Update the teaching plan as appropriate.
• Establish priorities based on patient needs.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
• Demonstrate skills and knowledge for adult and geriatric patient care, including understanding of growth and development, and providing needed care.
• Communicate effectively to patients, families, and the health care team, using written and verbal skills.
• Respond to patient crisis situations as outlined in unit specific standards.
• Perform assigned work safely, adhering to safety rules and reporting unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor promptly.
• Complete mandatory in‑service education.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing school.
• Acute care experience preferred.
• Commitment to obtain RN license and then a BSN degree within the defined timeframe.

$27.31 - $40.96

This pay range represents Christiana Care’s good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on individual factors including skills, experience, and qualifications.
