- Employment Qualifications:
Obtain a TWIC Card and pass a pre-employment physical and DOT drug test. All potential employees considered for driving positions must pass a DOT drug test, obtain a “clear” Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and receive approval from our vehicle insurance carrier (XL Insurance). They must also pass a road test and a pre‑trip inspection monitored by an approved Lorco licensed driver.
Drivers must hold a Commercial Driver’s License – Class A with tanker & hazmat endorsements and a DOT medical card.
Responsibilities: Drive a box truck delivering 55‑gallon drums of fluid (e.g., antifreeze, windshield washer fluid, parts washer solvent) and parts washer units, absorbent pads, and used product such as waste oil filters. Collect used oil filter drums and waste solvent, and refill empty drums. Maintain accurate invoices and all required paperwork, including DOT documents (e.g., Driver’s Daily Log). Perform daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
Operate as a “first line of safety” by cleaning up chemical or product spills when necessary.
- Work a minimum 8‑hour day (5 days a week) with driving and customer site visits.
- Climb repeatedly in and out of the truck and box, and climb, squat, crouch, bend, push, and pull when necessary.
- Carry a “clear” MVR and obey all road‑way restrictions.
- Use a drum dolly (manual hand truck) to transport 500–900‑lb drums and other heavy items.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and work outside in all seasons.
- Communicate effectively with customers, managers, co‑workers, and government agencies.
- Navigate using a map or GPS, maintaining a good sense of direction.
- Comply with safety training such as OSHA 40‑hour, LPS, API, and other relevant programs.
Qualifications: 2+ years of experience driving commercial vehicles, Hazmat and Tanker endorsement, ability to interpret route maps, proficiency with manual and automatic transmissions.
Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear appropriate PPE while on the job. This includes:
- Chemical‑resistant apron
- Cut‑resistant gloves (e.g., Kevlar or ATa) and chemical‑resistant gloves (e.g., nitrile)
- Hard hat when required
- Eye protection (safety glasses, goggles, or face shield)
- Steel‑toed boots, oil‑resistant and black
- High‑visibility vest or shirt illuminated in bright colors
- Inclement weather gear: rain jacket and rubber boots when necessary
- Hearing protection if required by the job
