Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Education, Development, Teaching, and Learning (EDTL) to join our EDTL team in Ellensburg, Washington. This role is an important member of our team as they enhance the vision for the University. The role is a campus-based, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We're offering a salary, depending on experience, from $68,000 - $78,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Role:
This position is in the Department of Education, Development, Teaching, and Learning (EDTL). The faculty member will teach existing introductory and advanced Bilingual/Dual Language/Elementary Education courses, with emphasis in Social Studies at the elementary level and the ability to teach using a variety of modalities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some courses may be taught bilingually. The faculty member will be involved in promoting the Dual Language Elementary Education program ulty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to a constructivist philosophy, keep abreast of current and emerging education trends;
advise students, the community, and contribute to the department/program, engage in scholarship appropriate to their field, provide service to the University, their profession.
The ideal candidate enjoys contributing to a department that values teaching excellence, student learning, innovative practice, and inquiry, and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Minimum Qualifications
* Earned doctorate in Bilingual Education/Dual Language, Social Studies Education, Elementary Education, or highly related field.
* Teaching, research, service, or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of all students.
* Ability to teach a wide range of courses of different levels, locations, and modalities.
Preferred Qualifications
* Eligible for or holds current valid teaching certificate for any US state or territory.
* Three (3) or more years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
* Experience teaching social studies.
* Dual language teaching experience.
* University-level teaching experience.
* Experience with a range of age levels, varied demographics, and rural settings.
* Experience with distance, hybrid, and online educational systems.
* Experience in curriculum assessment, development, and improvement.
* Fluency and proficiency in English and another language to the level needed to teach select courses bilingually (currently dual language courses are offered in Spanish and English).
* Ability to incorporate multicultural issues and social justice perspectives through curriculum.
* Engagement in program/department coordination/leadership.
* A record of promoting access and opportunity in classrooms and academic work environments.
* Research agenda or service interests that involve social justice perspectives.
* The ability to mentor and educate students.
* Involvement in professional organizations.
