POSITION: Non-Instructional Aide – Recess/Cafeteria Supervisor LOCATION: Ida Nason Elementary School, 5 hrs, 190 days.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB SUMMARY:
Provide recess/cafeteria supervision for K–5 students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Monitor students on the playground during recess and in the cafeteria.
- Wipe off cafeteria tables between lunches.
- Report observations and incidents relating to students’ behavior.
- Facilitate activities among students.
- Collaborate with staff to develop alternatives for students who are exhibiting inappropriate behavior.
- Appropriately respond to emergency and/or health related situations.
- Participate in meetings and conferences with staff, parents and students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
- Must have a current First Aid Card, or obtain one within one month of employment.
- Must be physically able to monitor “entire” playground area and cafeteria.
- Possess the ability to create and share an “enjoyable environment” with the students, while maintaining the necessary responsibilities involved with a “supervisory role”.
- Possess the ability to be “preventive” as well as “corrective” in working with students to ensure that they maintain proper behavior.
