Description

Bering Straits Global Innovations, LLC (BSGI) was developed to provide general construction services to a variety of commercial and government agencies and to take advantage of Bering Straits Native Corporation and its companies’ previous experience in commercial and institutional building construction, alarm system monitoring service, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and other related services.

About this position:
Construction Site Safety and Health Officer Location – Hanover, MD

Wage/Salary Range: $115k - $130k

Safety Leadership

  • Promote a proactive safety culture across every project.
  • Review all project team and subcontractor site specific and activity specific safety plans.
  • Ensure subcontractors’ project-specific safety plans comply with OSHA and USACE (EM385-1-1) requirements.
  • Coordinate directly with the project team and government safety representative for safety-related project tasks.
  • Participate in all regular meetings with contractors and government representatives, leading all safety related discussions and topics.
  • Perform and document daily and regularly scheduled safety inspections of the project site and each trade’s work and work area.
  • Coordinate with the project management team for the development of the site-specific safety training for all employees on the site, ensuring all relevant safety topics, OSHA and EM 385-1-1 requirements are met.
  • Provide site-specific initial safety training for all employees working on the project site.
  • Coordinate with project QCM for documentation and reporting of exposure hours.
  • Continually monitor safety and immediately address unsafe conditions.
  • Lead by example through consistent safe work practices and accountability.

Quality Control

  • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, UFC requirements, and contract documents.
  • Review construction safety submittals for compliance with EM 385-1-1 codes, OSHA, project specifications and drawings.

Field Leadership

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to maintain project safety, schedule and productivity.
  • Participate in regular site meetings and communicate project expectations to all trades and government representatives.
  • Maintain a professional and productive jobsite culture.

Project Execution

  • Monitor construction progress and proactively identify potential safety impacts before they become problems.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents with subcontractors.
  • Support successful project turnover and closeout activities.

Client Relationships

  • Serve as a trusted field representative for BSNC.
  • Build positive working relationships with Owners, Contracting Officers, CORs, Quality Assurance personnel, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions professionally and proactively.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
  • Level of Experience Requirements: Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Construction Safety Manager on commercial or federal construction projects.
