Safety Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

I’m partnering with a growing heavy civil contractor to hire a Safety Manager supporting major infrastructure projects across the Washington DC and Maryland region.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage safety from behind a desk.

We’re looking for a construction safety professional who enjoys being in the field, working alongside Project Managers, Superintendents and crews, and who knows how to influence people rather than simply police compliance.

You’ll initially support approximately 7–10 active projects across the region, covering site inspections and audits, JHAs, safety training, incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• 5+ years of construction safety experience
• Heavy civil, underground utilities, water/wastewater, pipeline, trenching or excavation exposure
• Strong field presence and the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
• CHST and OSHA 500/510 experience preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to build credibility with both Operations and field crews

Neither is essential, but both would be highly valuable.

The advertised range is $120k–$150k
, although there is flexibility for someone bringing a particularly strong combination of heavy civil experience, certifications, federal project exposure and/or Spanish.

There’s also significant upside attached to this hire.

The company is growing in the region and pursuing a major infrastructure project that could ultimately create an opportunity for this person to take dedicated safety leadership responsibility for a substantially larger operation.
