- Analyze project documents to determine overall estimated project cost
- Gather, calculate, and compile data for construction cost estimates and competitive bid proposals
- Perform detailed turnover of awarded projects to the project management team
- Guide teams through the full bid lifecycle, ensuring smooth transitions and successful project handovers
- Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm complete and coordinated scope
- Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
- Manage responses to invitations to bid
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Participate in conceptual budgets with manager oversight
- Develop tab sheets and scopes of work, gather subcontractor proposals, and prepare bid tabulations
- Coordinate scopes of work with the bid team
- Author qualifications and exclusions for assigned trades
- Build effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups
- Develop subcontractor relationships and attend subcontractor networking events
- Proficiency in all computer software programs used in estimating, particularly Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff
- Strong mathematical and computer skills
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Expertise in the majority of trades in Divisions 2–16
- Ability to work as a team member and in a team environment
- Ability to professionally communicate and perform in a highly stressed environment
- Ability and willingness to abide by Chesapeake Contracting Group’s policies and Core Values daily
- Ability to meet deadlines and work hours commensurate with workload
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates expertise in construction cost estimation, including proficiency in Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff, while effectively managing bid processes and fostering relationships with subcontractors. Strong mathematical skills and the ability to communicate clearly in high-pressure environments are essential.
