Glenelg Country School (GCS) is an independent day school serving students age 2 – grade 12. Our mission is to cultivate a diverse community of learners who discover, contribute, thrive, and excel. These principles serve as a foundation for all we do. The school seeks an Upper School Spanish Teacher for the school year. The teaching assignment will include a range of Grades 9-12 Spanish classes in a department noted for its collaborative approach, focus on oral proficiency and commitment to global citizenship.
Upper School Spanish classes combine both on-level and honors students and include A.P. Language and A.P. Literature electives. The successful candidate will bring to GCS a love of working with adolescents, a skills-based approach to teaching and a passion for language. Strong candidates will be comfortable working with a wide range of learners, building a student-centered learning environment and integrating academic technology.
Experience with proficiency-based approaches and comprehensible input strategies will be advantageous. All Upper School teachers advise a group of eight to ten students for their entire Upper School career.
- Instruction in Spanish language, literature, and culture
- Implementation of teaching strategies, activities and approaches to learning
- Assessment and evaluation of student progress
- Supervision of student behavior
- Development of a sense of partnership with and among students
- Exercise of good judgement and maturity
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
A B.A. or B.S. is required. Experience working with middle school or high school students is a significant advantage.

The compensation range for this position is $55,000-$75,000. GCS offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances, retirement plans, tuition benefits, and generous holidays and leave plans.
