Orange Tree Staffing is seeking a bright and talented Orientation and Mobility Instructor (O&M) to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services to students located in Howard County, MD for the  School Year!

REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid O&M (Orientation and Mobility Specialist) Certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide direct and consultative orientation and mobility services to students with visual impairments in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs, including travel skills, environmental awareness, and use of assistive technology.
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction to teach safe, efficient, and independent travel skills in school, home, and community settings.
  • Instruct students in the use of mobility aids (e.g., white cane, electronic travel aids) and other adaptive techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to support students’ independence and integrate mobility strategies into daily routines.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions, providing input on goals, progress, and recommended supports for orientation and mobility.
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families on supporting safe mobility and independence for students with visual impairments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, instructional plans, progress monitoring, and compliance reports.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in orientation and mobility training, assistive technology, and visual impairment education.
