Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. As a Systems Engineer with MTSI you will provide technical leadership in the development, documentation, and integration of design specifications, system requirements, engineering management plans, implementation planning, and test plans. You will work with senior executives, project managers, data scientists, and engineers to ensure the technical integrity of assigned missions.

• Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems.
• Lead the development, review, and/or approval of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
• Manage system and derived requirements to ensure delivery of production systems compatible with the defined system architecture(s).
• Support planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process and other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes.
• Provide technical support to the development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents.
• Serve as a Configuration Control Board (CCB) member and coordinate resolution of CCB action items from meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross‑discipline coordination.
• Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities.
• Allocate real‑time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.
• Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
• Develop scenarios and an Operational Concept describing interactions between the system, the user, and the environment.
• Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline over time.
• Develop alternative courses of action, workarounds, and fallback positions.
• Participate within Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts.
• Develop design alternatives considering lifecycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, and system expansion.
• Support innovation and digital transformation initiatives across MTSI.
• Maintain 4+ years of work experience in similar-scale programs and contracts with the Federal Government; a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, information systems, engineering science, engineering management, or related discipline is required, or 5+ years of additional systems engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrate leadership, communication, and teaming abilities.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑starter, able to take initiative and work independently with minimal guidance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 12+ years of related experience.
• Consideration may be given for additional academic credentials or relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field with 7+ years of related experience.
