We are seeking skilled and qualified candidates for a Network Engineer position to work on-site in Washington, DC for our Federal Agency Project.
Responsibilities:
- Supports and maintains enterprise-wide area and local area network infrastructures and technology for running an enterprise network.
- Works with strategic network alliances, especially with technology partners, to enhance the business unit's competitive positioning.
- Ensures technical standards and processes are followed to ensure reliable, well-performing data, voice, and video capabilities.
- Ensure all technology deployments are properly implemented, documented, and supported.
- Work in a consultative fashion with other departments to ensure all networking needs are met.
- Monitors network performance to ensure service levels are achieved or exceeded consistently.
- Remains current with emerging industry trends, identifies new functionality to meet business needs, and fosters knowledge sharing.
- Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for independent work. Apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions to the appropriate executive when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA;
Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA;
Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 12 years with a HS Diploma - Working knowledge of Cisco Networking hardware products, particularly the 9000 series of LAN switches and wireless products.
- Strong understanding of monitoring systems and protocols such as SNMP, SYSLOG, NETCONF, and TFTP.
- Knowledge of Solar Winds, Service Now, DNA Center, ISE, Wireless 802.11, Wi-Fi 6
- Looking for someone who understands Routing and Switching protocols on a Cisco infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of LAN layout and device connectivity, fiber backbone connectivity, port-channeling, trunking, and VLANs.
- Basic understanding of telemetry, device tracking, and Net Flow.
- Basic connectivity troubleshooting knowledge: routing, EIGRP, BGP, ARP, MAC tables, Trace Routes, Wireshark captures
- Basic understanding of UPS and power distribution systems
- Basic understanding of LAN switch stack technology
- Ability to troubleshoot user connectivity problems
- Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
