This unique and innovative program fosters a safe, trusting and engaging opportunity for students to find and maintain success in their education and beyond. Consider becoming part of our team!

Ellington Public School's off-campus Behavior Academic Social Emotional Support (BASES) has an opening for a special education teacher! This program is growing in its 5th year and provides opportunities for Social Emotional Learning Health and Wellness as well as academic support and instruction.

BASES serves students who require SEL support on a TIERED System to increase well being. This Program creates various programming opportunities to support individual student needs. We have a high graduation success rate as we have various opportunities for students to access academics including online, in person small group, Google Classroom from sending school or elected courses at their home school with continuous transportation to and from their home school.

Students can elect to take PE at the local gym, participate in weekly hikes and other physical activities provided daily within the program. Additionally, students participate in internships, support our new store, as well as many opportunities to attend historical, art and entertaining field trips throughout the year.

The candidate must be passionate about engaging students and creating a safe space where open communication and high expectations are consistent. Students in this program require a teacher with flexibility, an understanding of working with students with anxiety, depression, school refusal and family collaboration. The candidate must be innovative, collaborative and create an environment where students feel valued and respected.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a valid State of Connecticut teaching certificate with an 065, 165, 265 Comprehensive Special Education. A state and national criminal check will be required as well as a DCF search.
