School Psychologist
Ellington Public Schools has an anticipated opening for a full-time School Psychologist beginning August 24, 2026. This collaborative leadership position will provide opportunities to engage students, faculty, staff, parents and administrators at Ellington High School. The faculty member will work closely with administration, faculty, staff, students and families to provide services which may include; counseling, implementation of strategies and supports for students, teachers, parents, administrators, staff and parent training.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree level professional with background in school counseling, school psychology or school social work. Connecticut State
Certifications:
School Psychologist (070) Knowledge and experience working with students with social anxiety and school phobia Ability to communicate and collaborate with a broad group of stakeholders Strong interpersonal skills and build positive relationships with students, teachers, families and administrators Providing Assessments
Responsibilities:
Assessing students in collaboration with the school team Increase teacher knowledge in providing social/emotional understanding and strategies Provide district training to teachers, paraprofessionals, parents/guardians and administrators in the area of SEL curriculum and implementation Effective collaborator and communicator Student focused in supporting teachers Work with administrators and faculty to develop systems and implement protocols to support all students and school staff with an SEL curriculum RULER Empower and increase teacher capacity to support student social emotional learning instruction Provide both group and individual counseling Collaborate with DCF, Community Therapists, Ellington Youth Services and School Counselors, Psychologists and Social Workers in the District Support parents and students by providing family counseling sessions to increase student attendance in the school program as well as home visits during the school day as needed Ability to work with CT-SEDS new system
