High School - Special Education Teacher Multiple Ability Program (MAP)

Ellington Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher for our Multiple Ability Program (MAP) at Ellington High School. The Multiple Abilities Program (MAP) is a special education program designed to provide specialized instruction in the least restrictive environment to students who require intensive services in the areas of academic, social-behavioral, independent living, communication and adaptive skills. In the MAP program, we have an unrelenting belief that all students can continually learn and grow.

Through a collaborative approach between special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals and related service personnel, students are provided an individualized education program that ensures the improvement of skills in all domains. Collaboration across school personnel with a focus on a multi-disciplinary approach is key to the success of our students. Responsibilities of the MAP teacher include writing and implementing student IEPs, creating and managing paraprofessional schedules, planning and implementing self-contained core courses, providing support and services within community placements for vocational and academic services, and continually provide training to staff to support student needs.
