Special Education Supervisor. The Special Education Supervisor provides leadership, supervision, coordination, and administrative oversight for special education and 504 programing across assigned schools. The supervisor ensures that students receive appropriate, high-quality special education services while supporting staff, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and promoting collaboration among school teams, families, and related service providers.

The Special Education Supervisor works collaboratively with building administrators, special education staff, general education staff, related service providers, families, and district leadership to ensure effective programming and service delivery for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities of this interim role:

  • Serve as the primary special education and 504 administrator for Windermere School and Crystal Lake School Preschool-Grade 6.
  • Supervise and evaluate Special Services staff across assigned buildings. (special education teachers, psychologists, speech and language pathologists, BCBA, OT, PT)
  • Supervise paraprofessionals in conjunction with building administrators
  • Lead NAEYC reaccreditation process with preschool staff.
  • Provide consultation and support to building administrators, teachers, para educators, and related service providers
  • Monitor special education and 504 programming and service delivery within assigned schools. Finalize all IEPs and mandated documentation in compliance with State timelines
  • On demand support to special services staff regarding compliance, procedural support, problem solving student concerns, staffing challenges, scheduling support
  • Participate in PPTs and other student-centered meetings as appropriate and provide guidance regarding special education procedures and PPT processes
  • Support teachers in reading program interventions with Wilson and Orton-Gillingham
  • Respond to parent and staff concerns related to special education services or 504 programming
  • Provide oversight and support for out-of-district PPTs including Magnet and charter schools (25-30 students)
  • State mandated visits to out of district programs
  • Participate in the hiring process of all certified and non-certified Special Services staff
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for teachers and para educators, with an increased focus on the NAEYC process in the preschool program
  • Support implementation of MTSS systems across schools including but not limited to attending all MTSS academic and behavior intervention team (BIT) meetings at Windermere and Crystal Lake
  • Provide consultation regarding eligibility, evaluations, placement, accommodations, modifications, and service delivery
  • Coordinate/support with special education transportation needs
  • Attend monthly accreditation quality improvement support (AQIS) meetings at EASTCONN and coordinate monthly visits with AQIS facilitator
  • Serve as Early Start Liaison and Co-Chair with Windsor Locks Public Schools
  • Complete monthly Early Start Grant reports, collaborate with Windsor Locks to complete quarterly grant reports, and coordinate with outside agencies to complete mandated monitoring visits in compliance with the Early Start Grant
  • Work with Windsor Locks and Ellington preschool staff to complete year 2 of the local needs assessment (LNA)
  • Collaborate with preschool, elementary, and community partners regarding school readiness initiatives
  • Coordinate and plan the Extended School Year (ESY) services
  • Meet monthly with SLPs, School Psychologists, PTs and OTs
  • Meet weekly with district BCBAs to review student progress, programming and ABA/DTI programming.

Dates of position:
November 1, 2026-June 30, 2027

Candidates must hold a 092 and 165 or other special education certification
