Run Big Sitework and Utility Work, and Help Shape a Growing Company From the Field About Sunset Valley Construction

We’re a sitework and underground utilities contractor focused on building and maintaining essential infrastructure. In order to continue our positive influence on society, our team is projected to double in size over the next 4 years, providing career growth opportunities and a team that builds projects while building up people.

How You’ll Contribute

We’re growing, adding expertise, and building more field capacity. You’ll lead field operations on $200K to $10M+ road work, site work, and underground utility projects that transform the landscape of our communities. Our Foremen are a crucial asset in planning safe productive work, maintaining high-quality standards, supporting company morale, and helping people grow. The foreman is the heartbeat of the company.

What

You’ll Get To Do
  • Keep field production on track, leading the crew to meet or exceed production goals.
  • Protect safety and quality, overseeing the work, traffic control, equipment operations, trucking, and ongoing decisions as site conditions change.
  • Build crew capability by mentoring green workers and helping people understand what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how to work smart.
  • Keep sitework and utility installation well‑sequenced, reading blueprints, guiding pipe work, planning dirt movement, and using equipment judgment.
  • Keep the crew productive by managing tools, organization, communication, and all the little details that make a big impact on the day’s output.
  • Build your path here by producing results that move the company forward and earn your way into your desired role.
Who You Are
  • You have experience in sitework or underground utilities.
  • You can read blueprints, know different types of pipe and how to install them, know how to move dirt effectively, and understand how equipment is used in the work.
  • You can jump into any part of your crew’s work when needed and make practical field decisions around tools, equipment, traffic control, trucking, and flow.
  • You’re the person a crew can look to when the work needs judgment, a decision, or a better way forward.
  • You lead in a way that puts clear communication, safety, and production ahead of personal pride.
  • You have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and authorization to work in the United States.
Even Better, But Not Required
  • You started from the bottom and worked your way up.
  • You can lay pipe if needed.
  • You can run heavy equipment if needed.
  • You have a P6.
  • You have a CDL.
Typical Schedule

Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Work is consistent year‑round, weather‑dependent, with about 10 hours of overtime per week. Projects range from 4 weeks to 2 years. Travel is minimal and focused around the greater Hartford area. We do not plow snow in the winter, and paving/concrete work is minimal.

What’s In It For You
  • $40 to $55 per hour
  • Growth path to higher pay and advancement.
  • Training and development support.
  • Low micromanagement and high trust in the field.
Health & Financial
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance after 3 months
  • 100% employer coverage
  • 401K with 3% company match after 3 months

  • Two prepaid plane tickets anywhere in the USA once a year for personal use
