, voted 2025's Best Places to Work in Maine, is seeking a Full-Time Senior Staff Accountant for our Ellsworth, Maine location. A Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing complex accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, providing critical financial reporting to support business decisions, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Maintain and analyze the general ledger to ensure timely and accurate financial data.
- Oversee accounting processes and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
- Support payroll accounting, fixed asset accounting, and expense reporting.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries.
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to mitigate risk.
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to management on trends, variances, and performance metrics.
- Support forecasting processes with accurate data and analysis.
- Collaborate with leadership on special projects, process improvements, and system implementations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate with a high degree of accuracy.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- CPA or CPA-eligible.
- Experience in public accounting or a mid-to-large corporate environment.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, automation tools, and business process optimization.
