TITLE:
Part-time School Psychological Service Provider
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Maine School Psychological Service Provider Certificate (#93)
- Master’s Degree or Special-Level Degree in School Psychology
- Experience working within the educational setting in an area of special education preferred
- Knowledge of State and Federal Special Education Laws/Regulations.
- Reports to:
Director of Special Education
To assist the Director of Special Education in the provision of FAPE and services for students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Conducts psychological assessments including intellectual and achievement testing as well as scales required to generate a diagnostic impression per DSM 5.
- Maintains current knowledge of new intervention strategies and assessment techniques/instruments.
- Advises teachers, administrators and other school staff on methods to enhance student motivation, learning, and social-emotional development.
- Attends IEP/504 meetings to review evaluations results and make recommendations to increase student engagement
- Provides school psychological services in grades PreK-12 (or as we discussed PreK-2?) through assessment, consultation, and collaboration with school teams and families across the Ellsworth School Department.
- Participates in crisis response, threat assessment, and risk assessment activities as appropriate.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including special education teachers, school counselors, social workers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and administrators to support student success.
- Participates in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and problem-solving teams to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
- Provides consultation to staff that enhances the academic and social emotional performance of students through the use of research-based recommendations.
- Prepares and delivers oral and written reports, recommendations, and presentations to teams.
- Participates on IEP/504 teams, assisting with eligibility decisions and determinations.
- Assists in collaborating in the design of procedures/programs for students at risk for school failure when requested
- Provides in-service training and other skill enhancement activities to school personnel when requested
- Acts in accord with professional ethics.
- Provides tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of the diversity within the school setting.
- Demonstrates cultural responsiveness and fosters an inclusive educational environment that values diversity and promotes equitable opportunities for all students.
- Maintains confidential records and documentation in accordance with district procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Adheres to the ethical standards and professional practices established by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
