Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School | Grades PK–8

The Ellsworth School Department is seeking a collaborative, student-centered 5th Grade Math/Science Teacher to join our dedicated intermediate team at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School. This position is part of a duo teaching model, where two teachers partner to provide high-quality instruction for a shared group of students. The successful candidate will teach Mathematics and Science, while collaborating closely with their teaching partner, who provides instruction in English Language Arts and Social Studies.

This model allows teachers to deepen their content expertise while building strong relationships with students and working as a cohesive instructional team.

The successful candidate will:
  • Deliver engaging, rigorous instruction in mathematics and science using district provided curriculum materials.
  • Foster curiosity, critical thinking, computational thinking, and problem-solving through hands‑on learning and inquiry.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social‑emotional needs of learners.
  • Collaborate daily with a teaching partner to plan integrated learning experiences and support student success.
  • Use formative assessment and data to inform instruction and monitor student growth.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues while contributing to a supportive school culture.
  • Participate actively in professional learning communities and ongoing professional growth.
Qualifications
  • Valid Maine Teacher Certification (or eligibility) with appropriate elementary endorsement.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based instructional practices in mathematics and science.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging, and student‑centered learning environment.
