Now Hiring: 8th Grade Mathematics & Science Teacher, Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School
The Ellsworth School Department is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered 8th Grade Mathematics & Science Teacher to join our middle school team. The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and provide engaging learning experiences that help students develop strong mathematical reasoning and scientific understanding through inquiry, collaboration, and real-world application.
The successful candidate will:- Deliver instruction in 8th grade mathematics using evidence-based instructional practices that develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Teach 8th grade science through inquiry-based, hands-on learning experiences that encourage students to investigate phenomena, analyze evidence, construct explanations, and apply scientific thinking to real-world problems.
- Foster student curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance while creating an engaging classroom culture where all learners can succeed.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and learning needs of students.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
- Collaborate closely with grade-level teachers, special educators, interventionists, and administrators to support student achievement within the MTSS framework.
- Build positive relationships with students and families while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Participate actively in professional learning communities and ongoing professional growth.
- Valid Maine Teacher Certification (or eligibility) in Science (Grades 7–12).
- Demonstrated ability to teach 8th grade mathematics using evidence-based instructional practices that promote conceptual understanding, mathematical discourse, and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of inquiry-based science instruction and the ability to engage students in authentic scientific investigation and engineering design practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to creating equitable, engaging, and student-centered learning experiences for all students.
Anticipated salary range for the school year is $50,000.00 to $72,124.04.
