Description:
ASAP start needed. Interviews available. Facility has a Level III Nursery and approximately 200 births per year. The unit includes 4 Labor beds and 4 Postpartum beds. Traveler must be comfortable with all phases of care for Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum/Couplet care. Care includes management of post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers. The unit also cares for low acuity patients requiring IV Antibiotics, swing bed, or rehab.
No infectious patients or telemetry monitoring. The average ratio with Med/Surg patients is 1:2-3. The facility has low volume of deliveries, averaging 200 per year. A rooming-in model is used with no dedicated Nursery. Patient ratios are based on guidelines: 1:2 for Laboring, 1:1 for Active Labor, 1:3-4 for Couplets, and 1:2-3 for Med Surg. Required skills include experience with shoulder dystocia, epidural management, and intrathecal spinal analgesia.
Travelers will provide neonatal care during C-sections but are not required to circulate in the OR. Care of newborns includes vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, bilirubin management, and NAS care. Support on the unit includes a minimum of 2 nurses overnight and 3 nurses re are no CNAs available. A Health Unit Coordinator is available 4 days a week. A midwife will handle most of the care, and OB is available if needed.
Charge nurses, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapy are available 24/7. Charting system is EMR. Floating may occur to Med/Surg or ED for tasks only, with no patient assignments taken. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. No call requirements. Holiday expectations include working every other holiday. Time off requests must be approved by the manager. Scrub color must be professional; procedural scrubs provided for the OR only.
