Workspace Requirements Overview

Generations Custom Homes is looking for an experienced carpenter who can lead a crew, keep jobs moving, and take pride in high-quality custom home and renovation work. This is a great fit for someone who knows the trade, works well with others, and wants steady work with a respected local builder.

Job Description

As a crew leader, you’ll help run day-to-day field operations on residential custom home and renovation projects. You’ll be expected to set the pace on site, keep work organized, maintain quality standards, and communicate clearly with team members and management. This role is hands-on and leadership-based, so you should be comfortable framing, troubleshooting, and guiding others through the work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead carpentry crews on custom home and renovation projects.
  • Read plans and help translate them into buildable work.
  • Keep jobs on schedule and work organized.
  • Maintain high standards for craftsmanship and finish quality.
  • Coordinate with owners, office staff, subcontractors, and other trades as needed.
  • Help train and support less experienced carpenters.
  • Keep the jobsite safe, clean, and professional.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with the team.
Requirements
  • Proven carpentry experience.
  • Experience leading or supervising a crew preferred.
  • Strong framing and finish carpentry skills.
  • Ability to read and work from plans.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team.
  • Safety-minded and dependable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior crew leader, lead carpenter, or foreman experience.
  • Experience working on high-end or detail-focused projects.
  • Ability to mentor younger carpenters.
Workspace and Environment

Work is performed on residential job sites throughout Coastal Maine and surrounding areas.

Most work is outdoors or in partially finished homes, so weather conditions can vary.

This is a hands-on construction environment where safety and professionalism matter.

Dress should be appropriate for the weather and the work being performed.

Cell phone use is limited during work hours except for breaks and work-related communication.

Schedule
  • Full-time, year-round work.
  • Typical full-time schedule is 40 hours per week.
  • Overtime may be available and is paid according to company policy when authorized.
  • Start and end times depend on the job and season.
Pay and Benefits
  • Competitive pay based on skill and experience.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Overtime pay for approved hours over 40 in a workweek.
  • Vacation benefits based on length of service.
  • Unemployment insurance coverage as applicable.
  • Additional benefits may be available.
What We Offer
  • Steady local work.
  • A professional, respectful team.
  • Quality projects you can be proud of.
  • Room to lead and make an impact.
  • A company that values craftsmanship and accountability.
Ideal Candidate

The best fit for this role is someone who can lead by example, keep a job moving, and care about the details. We want a carpenter who brings experience, calm leadership, and pride in the finished product.
