About the OpportunityWe are partnering with a growing organization in the Elmhurst area that is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its accounting team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and is eager to grow professionally. You'll gain hands‑on experience across a variety of accounting functions while working alongside a collaborative team that values continuous improvement.
This role offers exposure to customer billing, month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, and process improvement initiatives. There is also a clear path for growth into a Senior Accountant role with additional exposure to contract review, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and analysis.
Responsibilities- Manage customer billing and invoicing activities
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record related entries
- Assist with monthly accruals and month‑end close activities
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Complete bank reconciliations and support cash reporting activities
- Post cash receipts and apply customer payments
- Monitor and analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports
- Partner with internal departments to resolve accounting questions and obtain necessary approvals
- Assist with documenting accounting procedures and identifying process improvements
- Support reporting requests, special projects, and other ad hoc accounting initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred
- 1–4 years of accounting experience
- Experience with billing, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or month‑end close
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and improve processes
- SUMIF/SUMIFS
- Experience working with an ERP or accounting system is preferred
