About the Role
York Community High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate School Social Worker to serve as a long‑term substitute for the fall semester of the 2026‑27 school year. This position will support students on a problem‑solving team, including general education students and students with individualized education plans. The successful candidate will maintain a student‑centered, creative approach to providing and delivering student supports while building rapport with students, families, and staff.
Responsibilities- Design and implement a process for the provision of social work services for students enrolled in the building of assignment, including developmental assessments and studies, crisis intervention and de‑escalation, and provide necessary services to students.
- Assist with the development, management, and delivery of a comprehensive Tier 2 and Tier 3 social‑emotional support program.
- Support social‑emotional goals for students with individualized education plans.
- Facilitate Tier 2 and Tier 3 psycho‑educational groups for students.
- Provide preventative and responsive services to students.
- Collect and analyze data to help guide program development and implementation.
- Provide professional development experiences for all school personnel in order to foster a deeper understanding of student needs.
- Consistently participate in team meetings for identification, evaluation, and design of intervention programs.
- Connect with parents and utilize community resources to bring the school, student, home, and community together in support of student needs.
- Provide parental education, consultation, and/or counseling as appropriate in relation to a student’s needs.
- Collaborate with teaching and related service staff to develop and sustain an educational climate conducive to the optimum development of all students.
- IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Social Work is required and registered in DuPage County.
Long‑term substitute rate of pay is $250 per day.

August 11 – November 7 , 2026.
The purpose of a school social worker in Elmhurst CUSD 205 is to positively impact the achievement of all students by addressing their developmental needs through the delivery of a comprehensive social‑work program that addresses academic and social‑emotional development of all students.
