Timothy Christian Schools is seeking applicants for a head girls varsity basketball coach.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Is a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Believe that the Bible is God's Word and the standard for faith and daily living.
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others.
  • Be an active participant in an evangelical church.
  • Minimum education:

    Valid Illinois Teachers Certificate and/or meets IHSA criteria (Qualification of Coaches 2.070)
  • Strong communicator, specifically in both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Three or more years of experience in a coaching position is required. Past experience as a Head Coach is preferred.
  • Proven to be a visionary person with strong leadership skills, and yet a lifelong learner.
  • A passion and conviction for servant leadership.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  • The head coach is responsible for the organization and operation of his/her program. This involves the leadership of the assistant and lower level coaches.
  • Continue to look for ways to build continuity in the athletic program Pre-12th grade.
  • The head coach will be responsible for program development and involved in leading summer camps for students Pre-12th grade as well as overseeing off-season programs for the High School.
  • The head coach will coordinate with the strength and performance coach on ways to continually improve our athletes
  • Be familiar with the eligibility regulations of the school and the IHSA.
  • Stay current with the sport. Requests for professional improvement through clinic registration, books, media, etc. can be made to the athletic director.
  • Ability to build consensus and work within the framework of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to confront matters and engage in productive conflict, when necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in conversation with appropriate language at all times, appearance, and program management.
  • Familiarity with Christian education preferred.
  • Oversee and promote the relationship between TCS athletics and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS). Interpret policies and regulations with understanding to ensure the accurate application of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) concerning administration, coaches, parents and student-athletes.
  • Promote and evaluate the implementation of the school’s philosophy of athletics.
  • Promote the athletic program in various media and press publications.
  • Performs other administrative duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be a strong leader and difference-maker for Jesus Christ.
  • Each coach is expected to conduct regularly scheduled team devotions.
  • Dress appropriately and professionally at both practices and games.
  • Have the proven ability to set goals with vision and achieve them.
  • Promote a spiritual and emotional environment that encourages the nurturing and growth of players and staff.
  • Supervise the coaching staff by providing leadership in our athletic program. Moreover, routinely evaluating assistant coaches for performance is an expectation.
  • Pursue best practice and successfully implement new strategies.
  • Coaches are to be in attendance at each practice and competitive event scheduled for their team.
  • The Head Coach is responsible for keeping accurate individual and team statistics.
  • Be available to receive input and concern from parents and the TCS community and act on it in ways that are responsive and in the best interests of the school.
  • Maintain regular communication mechanisms for parents and friends through school website, bulletins, programs, special meetings and other appropriate means.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director, Principal and Dean of Students to enforce student discipline as it relates to the athletic code.
  • Oversee and coordinate use of building facilities during school and non-school hours as it relates to athletics.
  • Enroll own elementary, middle, and high school age children in Timothy Christian Schools—if applicable.
