We have an exciting opportunity for an EHS Leader supporting our IRP/MP/OB business based in Alsip, IL. In this role, the Safety Leader ensures compliance with regulations and policies, provides leadership and guidance on EHS programs, and conducts audits to ensure company and regulatory standards are met.
You will be highly visible on the floor and fully accountable for owning and driving the safety program end to end.
- Build positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the site to create a zero‑incident culture.
- Establish a behavior‑based safety culture by coaching supervisors and employees in promoting safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management.
- Lead a safety committee.
- Provide leadership and vision in the plant for all EHS and sustainability‑related matters.
- Develop and manage EHS training for the plant, including minimum requirements, programs, and policies, and provide EHS PPE.
- Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request process and regulated reporting (TIER 2, TRI, etc.).
- Establish and maintain facility‑specific management plans for environment: air, water, waste (hazardous and non‑hazardous materials).
- Implement applicable EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes in compliance with Ingersoll Rand 37 standard works requirements and local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Complete risk assessments and recommend control measures for all potential areas of concern.
- Lead incident and near‑miss reporting. Perform root‑cause analysis on incidents and injuries.
- Oversee workers’ compensation program administration, including supporting transitional/accommodated duty and return‑to‑work programs.
- Build an efficient management of change program and evaluate non‑standard tasks to uncover risks and identify corrective actions.
- Build and manage a contractor management and visitor safety program.
- Ensure machine safety by upgrading and assessing equipment safety and participating in ergonomic evaluations for the site.
- Oversee the facility emergency response team to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
- Ensure drills and equipment are in a ready state and communicate responsibilities to personnel.
- Lead efforts in continuous process improvement and lean management.
- Own data entry/reporting and use established tools and processes to ensure data accuracy, analyze trends, and deliver timely reports.
- Develop a path to the plant/BU 2030‑2050 sustainability goals.
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- 7+ years of demonstrated proficiency in occupational safety, environmental reporting, and regulations.
- 3+ years of working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulations.
- 2+ years of experience developing and delivering training programs.
- 2+ years of proven experience in project management and stakeholder communications.
