Schedule:Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm
Compensation:115k to 130k + benefits
Performance Review Frequency: 90 days and annually thereafter
Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role, for a Staff Pharmacist in a compounding pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist will support day-to-day prescription processing and pharmacist verification in a production environment, including sterile and non-sterile compounded medications depending on experience and workflow needs. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying prescriptions, clarifying orders with prescribers when needed, performing in-process and final checks of compounded preparations, and ensuring all compounding and dispensing documentation is complete and accurate.
The role also includes collaborating with the team on formulation questions, maintaining quality and compliance standards, supporting inventory controls (lot tracking, expirations, quarantines/holds), and providing professional communication and customer service to prescribers and patients. Coverage during planned PTO may be required; when necessary and eligible, the Staff Pharmacist may serve as an acting PIC/designee for short periods in coordination with management.
- Active, unrestricted Illinois pharmacist license in good standing (Pharm
D or BS/BPharm). - Strong understanding of pharmacy regulatory compliance and a disciplined approach to SOP-driven operations, documentation, and quality control.
- Ability to perform accurate pharmaceutical calculations and apply sound clinical judgment when evaluating prescriptions and formulation considerations.
- Experience with sterile and/or non-sterile compounding workflows is preferred; familiarity with USP and expectations is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.
- Comfort supervising and supporting technicians in daily workflow while maintaining a calm, professional, detail-oriented presence.
- Strong communication skills with prescribers, patients, and internal teams; ability to clarify and resolve issues efficiently.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety, accuracy, and consistency in a production setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Compounding experience (sterile and/or non-sterile)
- Familiarity with USP standards and SOP-driven environments
