On second shift, you’ll be the hands-on authority who turns complex prints into actionable measurement plans, keeps our calibration system airtight, and partners with production, engineering, and suppliers to elevate quality every day.
Imagine this
You kick off the evening by approving a first piece, programming a CNC CMM in PC-DMIS, and confirming critical features with a Hofler gear inspection machine. Mid-shift, you catch a nonconformance during in-process checks, quarantine the lot, and collaborate on corrective actions. Before the night wraps, you close a PPAP/ISIR package, complete final inspection for shipments, and log calibration updates—documentation organized, data verified, customers protected.
Your week might include
Performing first piece, in-process, and final inspections
Inspecting incoming vendor materials and certifying outgoing customer shipments
Reading/decoding blueprints, customer specifications, and control plans
Using precision tools: /OD micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, CMMs, Hofler gear inspection machine, tooth verniers
Programming/operating manual and CNC CMMs (PC-DMIS / Modus preferred)
Executing and maintaining calibration activities
Identifying/rejecting nonconforming materials; supporting corrective actions
Coaching production teammates on proper measurement methods
Supporting PPAP/ISIR, process capability studies, and first article activities
Organizing quality documentation and customer files
Participating in internal audits and supplier quality engagements
Who thrives here2–4 years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality assurance
Strong blueprint reading and precision metrology skills
Comfort with math and geometry
Calibration experience (required)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with bevel gear manufacturing (preferred)
Work Environment Production floor and CNC machining environment; second shift
