Position
Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) – Neonatology at Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, IL.
Compensation & ScheduleHourly Pay Range: $57.76 - $80.86. Part‑time (average 20 hrs/week) or Full‑time (average 40 hrs/week). Hours flexible; unit staffed 24/7.
Job OverviewThe position utilizes critical judgement in delivery‑room resuscitation, newborn diagnosis and management, and specialized long‑term care for late preterm infants. The provider functions autonomously and collaborates with neonatologists as part of the neonatal interdisciplinary care team.
Responsibilities- Provide medical care to newborn patients in the nursery and intensive care unit during scheduled shift.
- Maintain adequate medical records for each patient.
- Perform procedural tasks as needed (PPV, intubation, central lines, chest tubes, etc.).
- Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
- Collaborate in the development, review, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
- Participate in developing and implementing quality‑improvement monitoring.
- Act as a resource for clinical skills for staff.
- Engage in clinical research as appropriate.
- License:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant Associate (PAA) licensed in IL;
Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License. - Education:
Master’s level program in specialty area. - Certifications:
BLS, NRP, and neonatal specialty certification (NCC for NP or clinical fellowship completion for PA). - Experience:
5+ years in IP newborn (highly preferred) or other relevant acute‑care pediatric experience.
- Newborn airway management including intubation.
- Central line placement (umbilical and PCVC).
- Newborn chest tube placement.
- Proficient with equipment: monitors, small‑baby equipment, flow‑inflating bag, ventilators (HFJV, HFOV, cMV, NIMV, iNO, etc.), sterile procedures, therapeutic hypothermia.
