Quality Technician
The Quality Technician is integral in ensuring that all parts supplied to customers meet their specifications. This role involves verifying that parts received from third-party vendors comply with customer, industry, and internal specifications. The technician will ensure that parts meet acceptance criteria through NDT specifications and that all manufacturing processes and procedures are meticulously followed, including calibration tasks.
Responsibilities- Program and utilize DMIS/Modus for quality assessments.
- Conduct regular quality assessments on incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.
- Reject products and materials that do not meet quality expectations.
- Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare final products to specifications.
- Communicate with the production team about quality control concerns to enhance product excellence.
- Resolve quality-related issues promptly.
- Understand and implement control plan requirements.
- Collect and analyze data, providing summary analysis to managers.
- Organize quality documents and customer files.
- Assist employees in proper measurement methods.
- Perform process capability studies and PPAP/ISIR related activities.
- Assist employees and supervisors in filling out quality forms.
- Develop databases for various quality projects.
- Make recommendations for long-term quality system or process improvements.
- Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections as needed.
- Participate in vendor certification to reduce incoming inspections.
- Act as an auditor for internal quality audits.
- Coordinate Quality System paperwork.
- Write supplier correspondences when necessary.
- 2-4 years of manufacturing experience.
- Basic math skills with knowledge of basic geometry.
- 2-4 years of quality assurance experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with manufacturing of bevel gears.
- Direct experience working with metals.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand customer specifications and industry standards.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments: /OD micrometers, calipers, snap gages, bore gages, CMM (manual and CNC), Hofler gear inspection machine, dial indicators, tooth veneers.
- CMM PC DMIS/Modus programming skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with metals is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or trade school education is preferred.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a mixed environment, primarily office-based with some time spent on the production floor around CNC machinery. Work shifts are from 6am-3pm or 3pm-11:30pm, Monday through Friday. The company has a team of 40 employees, and you will be working closely with four other Quality Technicians.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmhurst, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr.
