Auto Body Technician

Overview

Auto Body Technician at Gerber Collision & Glass is responsible for the meticulous assessment and quality repair of each customer’s vehicle to restore it to pre-accident condition, delivering an exceptional customer experience. Work with the team to achieve repair facility KPIs and represent The Boyd Group as a Brand Ambassador.

• Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Plan the repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
• Hammer out dents and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
• Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
• Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
• Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
• Weld and attach or fit parts into place; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or equivalent.
• Complete work orders within labor time guidelines when possible.
• Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure all work is executed correctly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.

• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
• Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
• Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
• Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
