The primary function of the York Student Success Center Facilitator is to lead the facilitation and monitoring of the effectiveness of behavioral interventions to ensure that student needs are addressed in an equitable and restorative manner, aimed at students achieving success in the school community.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain a calming, restorative space for students to proactively and positively address conflicts.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, families, and outside providers, and others leading restorative work.
    • Facilitate and monitor restorative practices, including, but not limited to, the Peer Reconciliation Committee, restorative circles, and community service (in and out of school).
    • Intervene in potential conflicts utilizing appropriate approaches for defusing confrontations and minimizing disruptions.
    • Model conversation, manners, listening, and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Design strategies and interventions around addressing student behavior and attendance-related needs.
    • Develop and/or implement curriculum towards intervention practices which include; SEL, Substance Abuse, Conflict Resolution, Peer Mediation, Cultural Sensitivity, Attendance, and Digital Citizenship.
    • Develop and implement interventions aimed at students struggling with class avoidance issues.
  • Supervise students assigned to the YSSC.
    • Monitor students during assigned periods to provide a safe and positive learning environment
    • Facilitate communication between teachers and YSSC students to ensure students are completing coursework while in the YSSC.
    • Perform other supervisory responsibilities as determined by the supervising administrator and the YSSC schedule to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
    • Support students on assigned class work to provide ongoing support in the completion of work assignments.
  • Progress monitor interventions and situations.
    • Collect and regularly analyze data related to student interventions implemented in the YSSC.
    • Provide data to problem-solving meetings to share data gathered in the YSSC regarding intervention effectiveness.
    • Engage with families about interventions, student updates, and other programming in a proactive and professional manner.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Trained in de-escalation techniques and healing engagement (trauma-informed best practices).
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, or a relevant field. Degree requirements can be substituted with evidence of at least 3 years of relevant restorative justice work with youth.
  • Skills and knowledge of restorative practices, including philosophy, principles, models, interventions, forms, and techniques.
  • Proven ability to produce timely, clear, and concise documentation and data collection/analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Education

Relevant job-related education or study; LBS1 preferred, experience working with Restorative Practices is a plus.
