Transportation Dispatcher | Elmhurst, Illinois | Salary up to $65,000
This role is responsible for scheduling shipments, communicating with carriers and drivers, monitoring delivery performance, and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the transportation process.
The candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment, effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Base salary up to $65,000 annually, depending on experience

- Coordinate and dispatch domestic freight shipments with carriers and drivers nationwide
- Schedule pickups and deliveries while optimizing routes and transit times
- Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve service issues or delays
- Maintain frequent communication with drivers, carriers, warehouses, and customers
- Track load status updates and ensure accurate shipment documentation
- Enter and manage shipment data within TMS and internal systems
- Negotiate rates and capacity with carriers when needed
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company transportation regulations
- Handle appointment scheduling and delivery confirmations
- Work closely with operations, customer service, and sales teams to meet customer expectations
- Assist with after-hours or urgent shipment support as required
- 2+ years of transportation dispatch, freight brokerage, or logistics coordination experience preferred
- Experience in domestic freight forwarding, trucking, LTL, FTL, or intermodal transportation strongly preferred
- Knowledge of transportation routing, carrier management, and shipment tracking processes
- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), Microsoft Excel, and logistics software
