Student Accounts & Admissions Specialist
Location: 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14905
Pay: $18.86-$22.71/hour
Schedule: Full‑time, 80 hours/pay period, Monday-Friday, Days (No weekends or holidays)
Arnot Health is looking for a reliable and detail‑oriented Student Accounts & Admissions Specialist to support the School of Nursing and School of Radiology. This role helps students and families with billing, account questions, and the admissions process-contributing to a positive, supportive student experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Accounts- Provide excellent customer service to students and families regarding billing, payments, and account questions.
- Prepare and send accurate billing statements following federal, state, and VA guidelines.
- Maintain and update student account records; support financial aid and registrar processes.
- Attend student orientations to explain account procedures and expectations.
- Accurately post charges such as tuition, housing, meals, and insurance.
- Process account reconciliations, refunds, and tax forms (1098T, 1098E, 1042).
- Ensure proper submission of student-related payables (books, materials, services).
- Assist the School of Nursing Director with annual student fees and charges.
- Work with other departments to improve account processes and workflow.
- Participate in year-end financial close and audit activities.
- Complete required training and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with creating materials for student recruitment events.
- Help organize and participate in Open Houses, recruitment events, and orientations.
- Collect and track required applicant documentation.
- Ensure incoming students complete onboarding before orientation.
- Organize orientation schedules, including Elmira College sessions and guest presenters.
- Track and submit transcripts for transfer credit review.
- Register students for general education courses.
- Provide timely updates to the Financial Aid Administrator.
- Support data entry and maintenance within Student Information Systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in accounts receivable, student billing, or financial services preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF required.
- Experience with Workday or Quick Books is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to a positive, student‑focused environment.
CPR/BLS: Must obtain Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort; occasional lifting, reaching, and stooping.
Infection Control: Frequent hand hygiene required when interacting with students.
Exposure Category: Category II - No direct exposure to blood/body fluids; may involve working with large groups.
