Nursing Clinical Educator-Decentralized - Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care.
MAIN FUNCTION:
As part of the department leadership team, the Nursing Clinical Educator, Decentralized plays a critical part in elevating practice, advancing quality outcomes, and supporting the development of high‑performing staff. The Nursing Clinical Educator, Decentralized is responsible for the planning and provision of educational offerings for all nursing staff through supporting the foundational aspects of entry into practice, as well as continuing education of experienced staff.
The Nursing Clinical Educator, Decentralized is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational needs and initiatives to enhance the quality of patient care. This position will work collaboratively with departmental leadership and work to continuously improve both the patient and staff experience in their respective area(s). The Nursing Clinical Educator effectively provides and promotes person-centered care, nursing best practices, and staff engagement in a commitment to excellence.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, all department specific requirements. and regulatory requirements for the specific area.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current NYS nursing licensure.
- Minimum of 3 years of appropriate nursing practice
- BSN Required
- Current certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Monitoring, as applicable to area worked
- Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Monitoring, as required below and as applicable to area worked, with a minimum goal of teaching enough classes to maintain fluency
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- MSN in Nursing, Medical Administration, or Education preferred
- Certification in specialty area
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary;
must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
