A Project Accountant at a large construction and development firm is responsible for managing project financials, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and ensuring accurate allocation of expenses across multiple active projects. They collaborate closely with project managers and finance teams to monitor profitability, support billing and collections, and ensure compliance with internal controls and industry regulations. Client Details The client is a well-established construction and real estate development firm specializing in residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, with a longstanding reputation for delivering large-scale developments.

The organization is known for its focus on quality, long-term partnerships, and managing complex projects from initial planning through to completion. Description Key respon sibilites of the project accountant include:
Monitor and maintain accurate financial records for assigned construction and development projects Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports Track job costs, identify variances, and provide analysis to support decision-making Support monthly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment between financials and project progress Oversee billing processes, including preparation of invoices, lien waivers, and collections follow-up Review contracts and change orders to ensure proper financial treatment Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry regulations Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed Maintain communication with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, and leadership teams Profile Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based environments Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills Ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate insights to non-finance stakeholders Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills Experience supporting month-end close and reconciliations Comfortable working cross-functionally with project managers and operations teams Familiarity with contracts, billing cycles, and change order processing Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Job Offer A competitive salary and benefits package!
