Civil Engineering Project Manager

The Project Manager will supervise the development of complex projects, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, safety, and timelines. They participate in defining project specifications, planning implementation, and budgeting, coordinating technical and financial aspects and the work of involved participants. They ensure development methods, timelines and costs are observed during each phase. Serves as a primary client contact and is responsible for ensuring contracted services are provided in a timely and professional manner.

Has overall responsibility for all aspects and success of assigned projects.

• Identify unanticipated tasks that can increase cost or delay the schedule as the project progresses.
• Monitor project progress, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.
• Establish the project budget, track expenditures against forecasts, implement corrective actions, and prepare cost-to-complete estimates to determine if the project can be completed within the budget.
• Ensure that all internal project quality assurance procedures are followed.
• Apply a thorough knowledge of current engineering principles and practices related to the firm’s activities.
• Supervise a staff of engineers and technicians.
• Plan, schedule, or coordinate the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.
• Responsibilities may include marketing, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination, and resources allocation.
• Perform preliminary engineering design and/or review design and drafting work of staff or project engineers and CAD operators.
• Coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside the discipline, and with support services staff.
• Assist in company-wide business development across all disciplines of the firm’s practice.

• Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey or New York.
• 8+ years of engineering management experience.
• Proven ability to identify, develop, and mentor talent.
• Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects from concept through completion.
• Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Establish a vision and create an environment for excellence.
• Demonstrated record of ethics and high standards.

Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are expected, demonstrated through technical presentations, papers, and/or participation in technical committees.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000
