Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
Mechanic, Department of Public Works - Elmwood Park Borough.
Is seeking an experienced full-time Mechanic to maintain fleet consisting of gasoline & diesel engines. Must have the ability to diagnose and repair the various equipment and vehicles within the Borough including, but not limited to, diesel fuel, DEF exhaust, brakes and tires, hydraulics, snowplows, suspensions, electrical, computer, HVAC, and cooling systems. Will be responsible to maintain and repair police vehicles, pickup and dump trucks, packers, excavators, sweeper, generators, and small engines.
The ability to read and use technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, and schematics is a must. Formal training, schooling, ASE or similar certifications a plus. Own hand tools and CDL Class B license with air brake and tanker endorsement preferred. Must be available for emergency and scheduled overtime Including storm cleanup operations. Starting salary $66,000 with excellent benefit package.
