With the NC After school Corps, you'll serve for one year uplifting k-12 education programming for those experiencing poverty! This program is an Ameri Corps VISTA project sponsored by North Carolina Campus Engagement (NCCE) and works to strengthen local out of school programming and expanded access for children by increasing program capacity. As an After school Corps Member, you may: 1. Recruit & train volunteers from local colleges & universities, 2.

Increase funding & resources for after school programs
3. Develop new programs & resources to enhance learning opportunities
4. Expand awareness of the value of after school programming
5. Build community partnerships to sustain long-term impact. After school Corps members are part of a 15 person cohort, collaborating with universities and community organizations to create meaningful change. We're seeking applicants who care about fighting poverty, who want to help children, and those who can strengthen the basic-educational resources our communities depend on. Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are invaluable;

passion and honesty about the realities of education in North Carolina make for especially effective VISTAs. We are currently recruiting for an August start date, with potential later start dates available (each term is one full year). Many placements offer a housing allowance, though securing housing is the responsibility of the VISTA. Contact Christina at cwittstein for host site details.

Member Duties :
As a North Carolina After school Corps member you will have the opportunity to build the capacity of after school and out of school programs that serve k-12 aged children across North Carolina. You may:
• Map out community resources
• Recruit and train volunteers
• Develop systems for volunteer coordination
• Create policies and procedures that increase program effectiveness
• Seek new resources through fund-raising or grant-writing
• Manage programmatic outreach, communications, and marketing
