The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Elon University seeks to hire a part‑time instructor to teach in‑person Elementary Japanese (I and II) classes (on Elon's main campus) for the academic year. This appointment is part‑time, non‑tenure track, with no guarantee of renewal. The classes will be in‑person, likely scheduled on Monday‑Wednesday in the late afternoon for 100 minutes each.
Candidates should have native or near‑native proficiency in Japanese and a Master’s degree or higher in Japanese, Foreign Language Pedagogy or a related field; candidates with 18 graduate credit‑hours in Japanese may also be considered. Candidates should have teaching experience and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive, student‑centered teaching.
- Teach Elementary Japanese I and II classes in person on a 100‑minute schedule.
- Plan and deliver engaging, student‑centered lessons in small classroom settings.
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain clear communication with department faculty and students.
- Native or near‑native proficiency in Japanese.
- Master’s degree or higher in Japanese, Foreign Language Pedagogy, or related field (or 18 graduate credit‑hours in Japanese).
