Position Summary: The Program Assistant for the Department of PA Studies provides support to faculty, staff, and students and is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Elon.
Minimum RequiredEducation and Experience
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PreferredEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and experience with Excel

Job Duties- Utilize exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills via phone, email, and in‑person contact, including communication with prospective students, current students, faculty, adjunct faculty, guest lecturers, alumni, and community partners. Provide professional communications, direct concerns to the correct party (e.g., program director, registrar, financial aid), follow FERPA guidelines, verify mailing addresses and certified letters, and give timely feedback to the program director, faculty, and staff.
- Perform daily operations of the DPAS office and physical spaces, including presence during student hours, placing physical plant work requests, providing assistance to the department chair and faculty, submitting fix‑its, and handling IT requests for faculty devices and classroom support.
- Track and manage the department budget, ensuring accurate account allocation, maintaining expenditure records, soliciting course budgets, securing contracts for adjunct instructors and guest speakers, tracking CME budgets, and preparing and reviewing budget reports quarterly and annually.
- Operationalize department events such as annual orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation Brunch/Luncheon, and program retreats, including securing spaces, coordinating catering, and preparing materials.
- Onboard new learner cohorts, ensuring seamless transition from admissions to cohort activities and maintaining the cohort list serve.
- Perform related duties as assigned within scope of practice.
