Job Description

The Buyer will be responsible for executing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to determine material needs and support procurement activities. This role involves creating, managing, and tracking purchase orders to ensure the timely delivery of materials. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support business needs while aligning purchasing activities with production requirements and inventory targets.

Responsibilities

+ Execute MRP to determine material requirements and support procurement activities.

+ Create, manage, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.

+ Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support business needs.

+ Align purchasing activities with production requirements and inventory targets.

+ Proactively identify material shortages or risks and drive resolution to prevent disruptions.

+ Escalate supply issues and coordinate solutions with internal teams and external vendors.

+ Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement standards, and applicable regulations.

+ Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Chain to address supply constraints, backorders, and unplanned demand changes.

+ Support continuous improvement in purchasing strategies, supplier performance, and material flow processes.

+ Track and report supplier performance and procurement-related KPIs.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.

+ 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Vendor management utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

+ Advanced knowledge of purchasing terminology and practices.

+ Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

+ Proficient in Excel formulas and the MS Office Suite.

+ Ability to read engineering blueprints and understand manufacturing processes.

+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, quantitative fields or equivalent work experience.

+ Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.

+ Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred.

+ Strong negotiation skills and application of purchasing cost reduction methods.

+ Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks on-time with little to no supervision.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elon, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.50/hr.
