1st shift Custodian

1st Shift Custodian – Monday‑Friday 6 am–3 pm

Elon University is seeking a dedicated Custodian for our 1st shift (6 am–3 pm) Monday‑Friday. This staff, full‑time position involves maintaining clean and safe environments across residential housing, academic buildings, athletic facilities, student centers, and dining locations.

The custodian is responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment, sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming floors, removing trash, cleaning biohazards and high‑touch areas, and monitoring special events and athletic games to ensure cleanliness and safety during events.

High school diploma or GED with less than 1 year of experience.

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license.

• Maintain cleanliness of campus and assigned building.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Remove trash and replenish all dispensers, paper products, and soap.
• Dust furniture, sweep, and vacuum floors daily.
• Clean and sanitize all bathrooms, showers, countertops, and stalls.
• Clean and sanitize biohazardous areas.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms and reset chairs.
• Maintain custodial closets and equipment orderly.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Report maintenance issues found on campus.
• Use safety signs appropriately (e.g., wet floor signs).
• Attend annual training and perform other duties as directed.
• Support inclusive community building by engaging in campus activities and professional development.
