CNC Set-Up Technician (Lathe & Mill) – Weekend Shift

This role focuses on setting up and performing changeovers on CNC lathes and mills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The CNC Set-Up Technician ensures machines run efficiently, parts meet specifications, and production goals are achieved while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on a weekend shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and perform changeovers on CNC lathes and mills for production runs.
  • Work with machines such as Davenport, Acme, B2B, Haas, and Mori Seiki or similar equipment.
  • Load raw materials into machines, start production cycles, and monitor operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Inspect parts for defects, verify dimensions, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and perform minor corrections to keep equipment running smoothly.
  • Change out worn or dull tools and ensure proper tooling is installed for each job.
  • Deburr and finish parts by removing rough edges, sharp spots, and other imperfections.
  • Measure parts using precision tools to confirm tolerances and dimensional accuracy.
  • Enter measurement and inspection data into Fanuc or similar control systems.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, and coolant checks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in alignment with 6S standards.
  • Support Kaizen and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to optimize machine performance and reduce downtime.
  • Adhere to all production schedules, including mandatory overtime as required.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3+ years of CNC setup experience on lathes and/or mills.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and changing over CNC lathes and mills.
  • Experience working with multi-spindle and CNC equipment (preferred but strongly valued).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude for resolving machine issues.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to enter measurement and inspection data into Fanuc or similar control systems.
  • Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on CNC machinery.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, including machine setup and operation.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment with mandatory overtime.

  • Strong knowledge of tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations.

  • Familiarity with 6S workplace organization principles.
  • Experience participating in Kaizen or other continuous improvement programs.

Work Environment

The role is based in a CNC manufacturing environment with a focus on lathe and mill operations. The primary schedule is Friday through Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, forming a three-day workweek, with mandatory overtime typically scheduled on Thursdays. You will work on CNC lathes and mills, including multi-spindle and modern CNC equipment such as Davenport, Acme, B2B, Haas, and Mori Seiki or similar machines.

The facility follows 6S standards, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and safety. Daily work involves standing for extended periods at machines, handling materials, operating precision measurement tools like calipers and micrometers, and using Fanuc or similar control systems. The environment supports preventive maintenance practices, structured production processes, and continuous improvement activities typical of a modern CNC manufacturing operation.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $58240.00/yr. Benefits, Health, Dental, Vision, Production incentives.
