Position Summary

Gardeners are assigned to areas (zone) that they are responsible for the health and appearance of the landscape. The primary responsibilities are pruning, floral/shrub beds, preventative maintenance, spraying, and other landscape maintenance. This positions essential to the overall aesthetics that has been established at Elon University.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. As full-time employees a gardener can be assigned help (temporary employees or student workers). Gardener must then be able to delegate and be mindful of the work that is being completed. Communicating is essential to be able to complete the tasks at hand.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and understand maintenance journals to perform preventative maintenance and other related tasks.

MATHMATICS SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Essential while operating equipment to avoid potentially dangerous situations when operating in a University campus…
