A Polyurea Spray Technician applies protective, waterproof coatings to surfaces like concrete or metal using specialized high-pressure plural component equipment. Responsibilities include surface preparation (cleaning, grinding), mixing chemicals, operating spray guns, and maintaining equipment. This role requires high attention to detail, strict safety adherence, and ability to handle strenuous, industrial environments.
Primary Duties- Surface Preparation:
Cleaning, grinding, shot-blasting, or masking surfaces to ensure proper adhesion. - Application:
Operating plural component spray systems (e.g., Graco Reactor) to apply polyurea evenly to tanks, roofs, or floors. - Equipment Maintenance:
Troubleshooting, cleaning, and repairing spray guns, hoses, and pumps. - Material Handling:
Accurately mixing chemical components according to specifications. - Safety Compliance:
Wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), following SDS guidelines, and adhering to OSHA standards. - Quality Control:
Inspecting coatings for thickness and coverage.
- Experience:
Proven experience in industrial coatings, painting, or construction. - Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of plural component spray equipment. - Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and handle heights. - Certification:
Sometimes requires a driver's license or specialized safety certifications.
- Often involves working outdoors, in confined spaces, or in factories.
- Exposure to chemicals and noise, requiring strict safety protocols.
